Big Difference is a new online retailer – they showcased at The Curve Fashion Festival last year and officially launched in 2019! – Specialising in women’s plus-sized fashion. While it currently has only a modest selection of pieces, it’s been pretty successful so far – so there’ll most likely be more items coming to the online store in the near future. We can’t wait to have the fabulous team back at TCFF19 to see how far they’ve come in the last 12 months.
Big Difference Company aims to alleviate the difficulties that many people face when shopping, by providing plus-size clothes that look great and fit comfortably. All their clothes are designed in Essex by two family members Chloe and Michaela, who have thought carefully about sizing – and come up with a unique system.
Instead of regular dress sizes, each item is labelled 1, 2 or 3. These three numbers cover a size range of 14-32, with plenty of room for movement. This makes it quicker and easier to get the right size and helps to reduce clothes-shopping stress (because as body-positive as we’d like to be, those numbers can make us feel pretty rubbish sometimes).
Dresses come in a variety of styles, from off the shoulder to t-shirt dresses, and most are in trendy block colours. Look out for stylish patterns such as leopard print and stripes. Jackets come in a variety of block colours and patterns – you’ll even find a few sequin pieces here! For a touch of winter cosiness, Big Difference has a range of snuggly jumpers; all with a sequinned star motif to highlight the star that you are.
It’s reasonably priced – expect to pay around £20-£30 for a dress.
As the brand is super new, not all of the website is complete yet. There’s a blog section under construction which looks well worth keeping an eye on for updates, and Big Difference promises that there’ll be much more to come (both on the website front and on the clothes front!) in the months ahead. One to watch (and to buy clothes from). Catch them in the Fashion Hall in November!
