The Curve Fashion Festival is a chance for plus size babes across the globe to come together, meet the brands, shop the clothes, catch up and celebrate everything that is plus size fashion.
2018 brands included, Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo, Very, Debenhams, Marks And Spencer And River Island. Each brand showcased their current collections on and off the catwalk, some ready for you to purchase, with others allowing you to see the clothes up close before purchasing online. Bringing guests such as Love Islands Alexandra Cane, and of course, The GC Gemma Collins who had just launched her new clothing collection with Boohoo. We even had an exclusive launch of Debenhams new extended sized lingerie range on the catwalk too, with a talk from the amazing Georgina Horne of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust.
TCFF18 also saw the addition of the beauty hub, with brands such as Doll Lashes, Peaches and Cream, Unicorn Beauty, Boohoo and Sample Beauty all bringing amazing makeup product for you to purchase there and then. The products on offer were gorgeous, with something for everyone. I was particularly fond of all the amazing glittery pigments and highlights on offer because you can never have enough glow to highlight and define.
I, myself, Cardiffornia Gurl was fortunate to take over the social for the day, running around trying to capture the electric atmosphere and highlight each incredible brand. It’s events like this that give back and allow women (and men) to celebrate plus size fashion and it was so great to see people meet others who had inspired them, had formed friendships over social media, or just creating new friends and connections in the very moment.
This year's catwalks were split between high street and online retailers, with a diverse range of models used on the catwalk, each showing off the clothing amazingly. We had talks from Callie Thorpe, Dani Vanier And Georgina Horne, who all captured us with their infectious personalities and amazing stories. Hayley Hasselhoff sat down with M&S, who’s curve collection is one high street highlight I urge you to check out.
The independent retailers included, Plus Equals whose range screams all things glitter, confidence and boldness, Curves For Purpose, Love 4 All, OBD, Weir Bra Fit and of course Nicky Rockets. Each brand showcased their amazing product and had their amazing staff and creators on hand to offer advice and so much knowledge. It was fantastic to meet the people behind the brands and see how much passion they have for the industry.
The event wouldn’t be complete without a celebratory drink with Dan and Leos bar providing the unicorn gin aplenty. The queue never seemed to die down, with everyone snapping their candy floss decorated gold stripped cups for the gram. I’m trying to figure out an occasion to invite them along to provide the drinks already.
All in all the event was fantastic and such a celebration of everything plus size. Having the chance to meet the brands for a face to face chat, being able to see what’s to come for this and next season, exclusive discounts and offers, meeting the people who inspire you, or just making new friends with people the same interests and passions. This event is such a refreshing experience and something I know nobody else offers for plus size. It’s always exciting waiting on their announcements to see who’ll be there and what brands are doing for their plus collections. And it certainly allows the plus size customer to have their voice heard and to show we’re here, we like to dress in cool fashions and for the brands to listen and take on board exactly what it is we want.
So with the announcement of the next event in Liverpool November 16th 2019. Myself and I’m sure the whole Curve Festival Team hope to see you there.
