LOOK has launched a summer campaign to champion body positivity and encourage women to embrace their bodies whatever shape or size. The #MyBodyMyLook challenge simply asks women to upload a photo to their Instagram or Twitter account, telling us what they love – or are learning to love – about their bodies, and then nominating a friend to do the same.
Gilly Ferguson, Editor of LOOK, says: “We may live in an age that champions life goals or a bazillion likes on social - but sadly real world, everyday body positivity doesn't come naturally to the majority of us.
Which is why we at LOOK are on a mission to help ALL women learn to love their bodies, and for no better reason than this: your body is INCREDIBLE! It’s yours, and only yours - and as such you should own it. To mark our life-long campaign, LOOK is launching a Love Your Body special issue – featuring three cover stars who have similarly made it their mission to positively champion EVERY body type.
Chloe Jackson, Fashion Editor of LOOK adds: “I'm delighted to be part of campaign that seriously embraces the real-life, healthy body shapes of every woman. We at LOOK are so proud to put gorgeous, aspirational girls on our cover yet again – and girls who represent all of us. LOOK has always been about including every shape and every body - which is why it has been so fantastic that Simply Be is supporting our campaign too.
Style is and should always be fun and all-inclusive – this is just the beginning…”
Continuing the partnership with Simply Be, which kicked off in December 2015, the 9th May issue of LOOK will feature three models showcasing the fashion brand’s swimwear line. The models include Iskra Lawrence, who has over 1.7 million Instagram followers, as well as Ali Tate, who previously appeared on LOOK’s first-ever model cover in 2015, and Sinead Blaney. All three women have joined the campaign, sharing images from behind the scenes at the cover shoot with their combined social media audience of nearly 2 million followers.
Polly Wakelin from Simply Be, says: “At Simply Be we believe style doesn’t come with a dress size, so we couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with Look and their #MyBodyMyLook campaign.
Women battle with body confidence on a daily basis so it’s great to see, for the first time, three beautiful models who real women will resonate with on the front cover of Look. This is a great step forward towards more women above an industry-standard size 8 being represented in fashion campaigns - especially as the average dress size in the UK is a 16.”
