March Guest Blogger: Plus Size Fashion with Catwalk Trends
With Fashion Week done and dusted for another few months, it’s time to reflect on the trends that we saw on the catwalks. As a plus sized woman, I used to look at shops selling trendy clothes and lament over the fact that unless I lost a fair bit of weight I would never be able to wear anything current and fashionable. However, over the last few years plus size fashion has gone from strength to strength, and plus size brands are giving us a plethora of on trend pieces available just as those trend reports come flooding in.
This season we have seen lot of lovely blue denim pieces on the catwalk. If you are looking to incorporate more recent trends into your style but you want to start small, then denim is the perfect way to go! I am loving the button up midi skirt from River Island’s fantastic new plus size range, this cute denim jacket and these wonderful light blue distressed denim jeans, both from Yours.
Metallics are in right now! Dust off your shiny statement jewellery and glittery dresses and get ready for a blingy spring and summer! This fabulous Elvi bomber jacket is perfect for throwing on over a multitude of outfits, whilst this subtly metallic Boohoo bodysuit will be perfect with a variety of skirts, trousers and shorts. And is that the sun I am starting to see!? Rock some glittery toe nails in these fab Yours Clothing sandals!
If you love floaty full length skirts, wide legged trousers and cutesy gingham then the ‘Picnic’ trend is for you. If you go down to the woods today, be sure to be seen in an amazing flared jumpsuit or a super cute Hell Bunny dress!
Shoulder, shoulders, shoulders!!! Strapless, bardot, halterneck – tis the season to bare flesh! And whether you want smart or casual, a cheeky flash or something a little more full on, the brands have got you (un)covered!
Plus size women and stripes are a winning combo in my opinion! And bold stripes are all the rage right now! Personally I always think that it’s very easy to dress stripes up or down as they can be smart or casual, and these dresses and shirts are super versatile.
It wouldn’t be spring and summer without bright colours! And bold, vibrant patterns are definitely in right now! Anna Scholz shows you how to clash beautifully with vivacious separates, or you can keep it boho with Boohoo and Yours and their delicious selection of maxi dresses.
What’s your favourite SS16 trend? What can you see yourself rocking this year?
